There's a backroom deal going on. Plus, you've got to realised that these politicians have more in common with each other than they do with us, and are interested in maintaining the status quo. Plus, the danger with a surveillance state of course, is that the national security lobby has dirt on *everybody*... they literally know where all the bodies are buried.

It's also worth noting they weren't voting for or against the bill, they were only voting on the short time scale and the lack of debate.

Haha, I love the comments around this bill "Why are Labour pandering to the coalition?" How short people's memories are :(. Slightly disappointing the Yellow Tories rolled over so easy on it though.
